IN THE Oban area you can find everything from ex-council houses to half a million pound dream homes for sale. The area has a thriving tourism sector which is reflected in the number of larger houses which have potential for bed and breakfast or guest house accommodation.

There is however a shortage of flats for sale perhaps due to the saturation of the rental market in the town itself. In and around the Oban area there are a great deal of three and four bedroom detached villas and bungalows for sale in the £200-£300,000 bracket.

Three to four bedroom family homes are also available with the average price in the area now around the £150,000 mark. New housing is being built in Oban in the Glenshellach area which includes affordable homes. This is now starting to ease the pressure on the housing market in the area. There are also opportunities for self-build homes as there are building plots with good potential on the market.

Areas such as Dunbeg, Kilchrenan, Taynuilt and Appin, which are within the Oban catchment area, also look like good value.
